Truck Driver
Although technically speaking truck drivers do not fall under the category of domestic service workers, the nature of their job is not much different. They also render similar work hours with similarly low salaries and not much in the way of social security benefits either. Truck driving is a much harder work than being a domestic helper since they are exposed to the dangers on the road driving large motor vehicles such as trucks. Further, they need to spend for obtaining their truck driving certifications from training schools as well as shell out money to get driving licenses. Most truck drivers are considered as professionals who render important work.
Some truck drivers earn enough money to invest in their own trucks. In this case, they become owner-operators and earn more this way since they do not earn just salaries but also the profits from operating their business of trucking. This is a hazardous job and normally requires obtaining adequate motor insurance policies to cover expenses in cases of accidents. In some countries, there are also women truck drivers who do this type of manly work. Professional drivers keep a log of all their trips to account for gasoline consumption and other incidental expenses.
